Eldest son Rudy VanTongeren, father Thomas VanTongeren and youngest son Richard VanTongeren.

What many people in Yorktown Heights and surrounding communities don’t know is that although Blossom Nurseries opened for business in 1973, the greenhouse is actually over 100 years old.

Yep, you read that right, one hundred years old. The original greenhouse on the property of 1943 Baldwin Rd is ancient. Now it’s needed fine tuning don’t get us wrong, but for over 100 years, this nursery has been in action growing some of the most beautiful annuals known to mankind.

Upon purchasing the property, the VanTongeren family decided to preserve the greenhouses, build another one, and continue running the business. Now owned and operated by the eldest son, and Cornell graduate, Rudy VanTongeren, Blossom Nurseries continues to supply the Yorktown Heights and surrounding communities with beautiful inventory every Spring and Summer.
